Constructed Paintings
These are paintings that are held in a state of changing lightness-heaviness. A landscape in Limbo, a place where I can place myself in relation to the architecture of my surroundings. Structures and slabs are caught in an atmosphere of paint. I cut and build, draw and paint what rises up and hangs in my spaces- the melting icebergs and watery foundations. Paint becomes a deluge, a cleansing and physical affirmation of paint. I paint to find my footing, to place a step onto a firm ground within the uncertain terrain of our present time. My tools are paper, canvas, paint and music. Nothing is lost, though a large portion of paint ends up on the floor as it is washed away by water guns. I use water spray guns to create the fine watery varnishes that remain on the surface. A deluge that captures the collage of empty voids and directional signposts.
