Annette Iggulden - Home: a Geometry of Echoes
19 March - 16 April - Opening Saturday 19 March 2 - 4pm
The “accidental” time and place in which we are born plays a significant role in our sense of agency in the world. Travel, migration and displacement can shatter previous perceptions of the place we once called home and of our place within it. The need to re-construct or re-imagine a place or space for dreaming is imperative for our survival.
The authors Gaston Bachelard and Italo Calvino suggest that ‘home’ might coexist within the wider universe and within us. An image of home built from remnants of memory, longing and desire that hovers somewhere between reality and unreality.
