Anna Caione - Disporre
19 November – 18 December 2016, Opening Saturday 19 November, 2 - 4pm
DISPORRE- Dispose
This body of work is inspired by a collection of travel mementos gathered on journeys to Italy. It addresses the shifting landscape of experience, nostalgia, recollection and the poetics of remembrance.
The work fuses aspects of contemporary Italian culture and past heritage, which in this case may be understood as a threshold between the realm of intangible memory and the physical realm of place. Although they reference historical surfaces, ancient structures, architecture and landscape it is through the revitalising of found objects, the use of painting materials and most importantly, the traces of the artist’s touch that they carry a sense of history.
