Goeffery Bartlett, Roger Byrt, Augustine Dall'Ava, Bartlett, Byrt, Dall’Ava 2000 – 2012
March 8 - March 31 2012, Exhibition opening event March 10th, 2-5pm
Bartlett, Byrt and Dall'Ava present sculptures and two-dimensional works in tandem, which have been made over the past twelve years. Unusual synergies and inter relationships occur when the context of both the two and three dimensional works are juxtaposed within the space of Langford120. The overhead natural light in the gallery heightens the materiality, the connections and colours within the works. While Bartlett and Dall'Ava exhibit mainly sculptures, Byrt uses the wall space primarily.

JOURNEY: THE SCULPTURE OF AUGUSTINE DALL’AVA 1975 - 2008 Essay by Penny Teale 2009 There is a strain of perfectionism in Dall’Ava’s nature that has no sympathy for the “rough and ready”. It is this commitment to precision and detail which has continued throughout his career and has helped elevate his status to be one of Australia’s most interesting and important sculptors. His perspective and considered treatment of materials such as wood and marble are honed by the artist’s hands to accentuate their natural and inherent form, to further exploit qualities of surface detail, colour and texture. These enhanced qualities dictate the objects final hierarchy and placement within the work of art and on occasion predicates further selection, fabrication and refinement. |
