Linda Pickering - Cruciforms

The cruciform series explores the way in which a limited number of repeated elements can be transformed to give an infinite number of possible outcomes. In making my work I am curious about the role of choice and decision making in defining the final outcome, with seemingly minor decisions having surprising results.

By starting each drawing without a finished image in mind, I allow the works to develop organically, incorporating mistakes and new ideas rather than following a predetermined plan. The constraints of the grid and cruciform design, result in images which are related but unique.
