Sue Knight Domestic
Nov 22 - Dec 20 2014, Exhibition opening event; Saturday November 22nd, 2-4pm
In the magical thinking of the child, inanimate objects have a life of their own. While this animistic view of the world gives way to the rational understanding of the adult, it persists in the emotions imbedded in seemingly ordinary domestic objects. In this exhibition, Sue Knight transforms humble items from around the home – the iron, the bread tag, the fleur-de-lys pattern from wallpaper and kitchen implements such as spatulas and tea strainers – into semi-abstract objects of mystery and wonder that hark back to the powerful memories of our earliest days.
